The Betrothal (Guo Da Li

Guo Da Li Betrothal Chinese Wedding

Betrothal (Guo Da Li) is a formal state of engagement to be married. The groom's family will present gifts to acknowledge the parents' efforts in raising the bride and by accepting the betrothal gifts, the bride's family pledged her to the groom. This is usually to be done 1-2 weeks before the actual wedding day.

This process kick start the unity of the two families by discussing the wedding process, procedures and items needed from both sides. Reaching to a consenses of the two families during the Guo Da Li is far more important than being calculative and overly supertitous of certain procedure or item not being practiced.
